These paper collages deal with the idea of a veil as a technical method to render space and atmosphere.  Layer upon transparent layer, the goal is to create an environment where air and hill and bricks all converse.  These are the basic elements of painting, in simple materials that allow me to focus on line and form.  Yet they often become mysterious, poetic, beautiful scenes; soulish polaroids of places I have been.

The first response was in a little, 4 x 6 in. sketchbook that I carried around southwestern China in 2009, and has since lead to many other pieces, some of which are shown here.
